MIMI

Allow me to introduce you to Mimi, one of three members of the BRD's cat family.

And while she appears to be lying back, relaxing, contemplating the meaning of the universe . . what she's actually doing is waiting for Gayle to throw her mouse.

No, not a real mouse.

A small fabric replica with which the cats love to play.

But there's one odd fact in this family.

Gayle has taught her various cats over the years not only to play with their "mice", tossing them around and in the air and catching them again, but also to "fetch" them back to her to be tossed yet again.

I've heard of dogs doing this but never, except for Gayle's pets, for a cat to do it.

I learn something every day.

  2. Mari is too lazy to do that and won't even participate in laser chase any more. What a cute kitty! I love playful cats.

  3. My youngest, Emily, has a cat who's done that without being 'trained' since she was a kitten. It just started, and it only happens with some certain things, like a small fluffy toy.

  4. We had a cat that played fetch with the little balls from women's golf socks. Again and again and again. Our son took him to kindergarten show and tell and that cat performed for a crowd!

  5. It's true, cats can be trained. Lola is resisting, but when I had Angel I trained him to stop when I raised my hand palm out. He'd be galloping towards the table ready to leap up and i would show him the hand and he wouls skid to a stop, giving me time to clear away anything that he might knock over, then I would pat the table edge and up he'd jump. Mimi is beautiful.

  6. Our older Lacey doesn’t really play. I wonder if a cat nip infused mouse would interest her.
