    1. I’m a vet because I was drafted. I think the draft was better for the nation than our all volunteer system — even though often
Privileged folks got to skip it or be weekend warriors.

  2. Indeed! It's Remembrance Day here in the UK, which is the British counterpart to Veterans' Day.

  3. Thanks Bruce. Appreciate it. Hope Judy is improving and walking, and you are doing well also.

  4. Andy is a vet, but we don't celebrate. He was lucky enough to spend his two years here in the states, during the Korean War.

  5. My dad was a World War II veteran. He was a combat medic and was injured in the Battle of the Bulge. I still have his Purple Heart. I think of all the Veterans on this day. (NewRobin13)

  6. Yes. It is a conundrum to be a peace- loving person in a family filled with military connections. I didn't even let my sons play with toy guns, but 4 of them joined the military. It has not been easy being a soldier's mom, but proud of them all.

  7. My ex was a Vietnam Vet and was disappointed when his sons wanted nothing to do with the Army, while I was overjoyed about it. I worry about a new world war though because now my family has 6 young men within the age range to be forcibly drafted.

  8. At eleven o'clock on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, may we always remember them. For our today they gave their tomorrow.
