RAIN

Rain, rain, come and stay
Rain, rain, don't go away.

Finally!

We had a pretty good monsoon rain today.

For about an hour or more we had rain, thunder, lightning, wind and hail.

It's late this year.

It normally arrives on July 4th.

Late it may be but after week after week of temperatures climbing into the 90's, it's certainly welcome.

On our first evening in Phoenix, back in 1972, it rained for the first time in over 100 days (I believe) and everyone in the convenience store I was patronizing ran outside to stand and get wet.

Now I understand.

  1. We moved into our house in Phoenix on July 4th weekend, I went to the grocery store, the check out lady said, "It's so humid today." The humidity was around 30%. We had just moved from West Palm Beach.

  2. No rain at my place just a power outage for a couple of hours. What a drive home from Prescott to Chino Valley like the apocalypse was here. Forest fire smoke on the left and black clouds filled with lightening on the right.

  5. Here in New Mexico we love rain too! Last year this time we were experiencing a severe drought, but we received enough rain this year to get us officially called normal. We're not counting on it lasting.

  7. I talked to my sister Judy last night and she said the hail turned the ground white for a while. When I was talking to her around 4:30 PM, the sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky down here. However, around 7, that all changed. Lots of wind, lots of lightening in every direction and lots of rain....in some areas. Just not at my house. We only got a small amount of rain. I watched a news report and saw how the storm made a huge circle around the valley, leaving the center almost dry and dumping almost all the rain to the east, north, south and west. Just not in the center. Go figure.
