It's not just the retailers.
The other day (reminder: this is November 5th) I was out by the Civic Center and what did I see?
Yup.
A work crew had put up a gazillion-foot tall Christmas tree on the grounds.
Once again, a reminder: this is November 5th!
Isn't this rushing things?
Oh well I guess the citizens are ready for the Christmas holidays to begin.
A little later I was driving around a neighborhood fairly close to mine and what did I see?
Yup.
To this homeowner, Santa Claus is already set to soar.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Never mind Thanksgiving is still weeks away and many homeowners haven't taken their Halloween decorations down yet.
Pretty soon it will be just one big year-long holiday season.
Or is it already?
( . . grump, grump . . )
Yeah, seems silly. Christmas should be officially know as 'The Day Retailers Now Control'...instead of 'The Days Kids Express Disappointment About Their Gifts' Day. lol
ReplyDeleteI hate this time of year. Just a matter of time before Christmas music sets off my depression.
ReplyDeleteI made an Amazon return at Kohl's this morning and realized they were playing Christmas music and having a 'Black Friday' sale. There was a woman singing along to Jingle Bells and I said 'shame on you!'
ReplyDeleteIt does seem a bit early. I always thought the season started the Friday after Thanksgiving. Maybe people just need a little twinkling of lights these days to keep things bright as a balance to all else that is going on. (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteRobin, I can't get to your blog anymore! Let me know what I need to do to get access. Thanks!
DeleteWe don't make a fuss about Christmas, so it doesn't matter to us.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you a thousand percent. But I have long since stopped trying to regulate the so many zany people around us. I'll notice them when it's time to notice them, lol. Aloha!
ReplyDeleteI saw a Black Friday ad today and thought it was too early for that!
ReplyDeleteWe were surprised to see that a little town called Titusville had set up their decorations in the local city park.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your header picture. Where is that exactly? I think it is too soon for Christmas decorating. When all the kids lived at home #3 child declared there should be no thought of any Christmas decorating until her late November birthday was passed.
ReplyDeleteRiver, I found the header picture on the Internet. I believe it is Beaver Falls near Supai, Arizona.
DeleteI saw last night that some lights have gone up around here. Yes, it is too early. Our parade occurs later in November, and that is when folks used to light up.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start singing "Here Comes Peter Cottontail..."
ReplyDeleteEverything has become so commercialized that they want to start selling as soon as possible. I'm surprised they waited until after Halloween.
ReplyDeleteAround here, some put their lights up early to beat any cold weather coming our way. The year has flown by and the early decorating isn't helping! :)
ReplyDeleteWay too premature for me, I revel in Autumn until the end of November and can't even think about Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving at the earliest. I Love all Holidays, but feel they rush thru them now at a ridiculous pace.
ReplyDeleteI love fall decorations and Thanksgiving so I put off Xmas until December 1st or thereabouts. I'm grumpy right along with you!
