THE FRIDAY FUNNIES

Well, now, I betcha thought I'd never get here.

It's my memory.

See what I mean?

But now that I AM here, let's get on with the humor, shall we?

And with that horrific pun, I will slink back to my dark den of desultory destruction, departing drearily to dreamland, doting on dreams of days past of dining in delicatessens and other diversions.

But before I go let me wish you all a spectacular weekend and leave you with this thought: there are only 11 days to go!

Oh, yes, and always remember to keep laughing!

Here, kitty-kitty . . .

(. . . oh, not quite yet, pussycat.)

I RULE

A big plump robin happened by the other day and decided our bird bath was just what he needed.

He settled in for a nice solitary soak.

But being a robin, basking is not enough.

They like to splash about, throwing water right and left.

This attracted the attention of another frequenter of the spa - a mourning dove.

He (or she) seemed to be thinking/saying, "What are you doing in my bath/drinking fountain?"

The dove fluttered around, trying to scare the robin away but to no avail.

It even fluttered directly over Mr. Robin, flapping wildly.

Did this work, you ask?

Nope. Mr. Robin just seemed to ignore the interloper.

So the dove gave up and went to the kitty pool down below for his drink while that big fat devil continued to monopolize the fountain.

What occupies YOUR minds during the pandemic, eh?

STYLE

I did a load of laundry the other day which included my favorite pair of blue jeans.

When I pulled them out of the dryer I found for the first time the ravages of them having been worn every day for weeks.

Two spots on one leg very near to each other and very near to wearing completely through the denim!

I showed them to SWMBO sadly, bemoaning the loss and opining that I'd soon have to have a new pair and agonizing over breaking them in.

So did she put her arm around my shoulders and coo "there, there" to me?

Au contraire!

Instead she said, "A little more wear and you'll be able to ask $150 for those on eBay!"

Holy smokes, what a concept!

I checked around.

She may be right!

And that's why I call her She Who Must Be Obeyed.

CURIOUS MONDAY

The Donald Trump presidential campaign is coming to the Prescott airport for a noon-time rally today.

That's only a few miles from where I'm sitting and nearly abutting where the BRD lives.

It's also in a county that is overwhelmingly Republican.

Which makes me wonder why, with only 15 days left before the election, he's spending the time in a place that he is certain to win.

But there's a lot I don't understand.

Meantime, at the Blue Bird Bath . . .

THE FRIDAY FUNNIES

(yawn) (ho-hum) Bet you thought I'd never get here, didn't you?

Well, some days just start later than others.

Especially when the nights are cooler and the bed is warm and . . .

Oh, never mind all that, let's get started.

Awright, awready . . with that, I'm done here.

Now let's all have a marvelous weekend and always remember to keep laughing!

Here, kitty-kitty . . .

(awwww, so cute . . .)

BE-WITCHING

 The season is drawing nigh.

I ONLY KNOW IT'S MONDAY

In this 21st Century a hoo-hah has erupted over whether today's holiday is Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples' Day.

In the once peaceful city of Portland, Oregon, statues of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt were torn down overnight.

I can't make sense of it all.

So I resort to a cartoon, with which to wish you all a good holiday.

POT PLANTS

Our pot plants are hanging in there nicely, possibly due to the continued warm weather.

(They're not what you may have been expecting. I call them that because we grow them in pots.)

The tallest plant here is a Serrano pepper plant.

Next to it is a Shishito pepper plant.

Down in front is a Coleus plant that started from a cutting and was about to be given up for dead until SWMBO brought it outside and snuggled it in with the pepper plants.

Since then it has thrived.

In the lower left you can see a Basil plant and way down to the right you can catch a glimpse of a Mint plant.

There's also a peek down in front of our struggling Chives, about done for the season.

Meanwhile the tomato plant keeps surprising us with a plethora of various sized fruit though it's beginning to look like we may have to have some Fried Green Tomatoes.

The rain gauge sharing the pot regrettably is as dry and unused as that barbecue grill in the background.

Pot gardening - it's been profitable this year and kind of fun.

THE FRIDAY FUNNIES

Yes, I know.

The weeks just keep getting weirder and weirder.

Sometimes I think, "how can I come up with something to make people laugh."

But I keep trying and searching, aided by my many contributors and fellow funny folk.

So with that wee bit of alliteration, let us begin.

Okay, you're giggling, right?

C'mon, I know I got you with at least SOME of these.

Well, whatever, have yourselves a wonderful weekend.

And always remember to keep laughing!
